Morocco Condemns Terror Attack on Jordan-Syria Border, Expresses Solidarity
Morocco has vehemently denounced the recent terrorist attack on the Jordanian-Syrian border, which claimed the lives of three American soldiers and left several others injured.
During a meeting with Bonnie Jenkins, the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita reaffirmed the Kingdom’s unequivocal condemnation of terrorist acts that pose a threat to security and stability in the region.
"Such terrorist operations must be unequivocally rejected, and we express our condemnation unequivocally," Bourita declared.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI) claimed responsibility for the drone strike on the remote Tower 22 outpost near the Jordan-Syria border, citing perceived U.S. support for Israeli military actions in Gaza as the motive.
Foreign Minister Bourita extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen American soldiers and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. Additionally, he expressed Morocco’s unwavering solidarity with the Jordanian government.
The Foreign Minister underscored the significance of his strong stance within the context of active U.S.-Morocco coordination on global security matters, particularly in Africa. He emphasized collaborative efforts to curb the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction across the continent.
Bourita particularly stressed the imperative of preventing separatist and terrorist groups from acquiring chemical or biological weapons. His condemnation underscores Morocco’s steadfast commitment to the global fight against terrorism.
