Morocco at the heart of US-Africa tripartite cooperation

As African nations and the United States gather in Luanda, Angola, for the US-Africa Business Summit, Morocco emerges as a central figure in advancing triangular cooperation and fostering deeper African integration. This leadership role, guided by King Mohammed VI, positions Morocco as a dynamic force in aligning Africa with global value chains and promoting equitable economic ties.

Morocco’s robust participation in the summit is reflected by the presence of a high-level delegation led by Karim Zidane, Minister Delegate for Investment, Convergence, and Policy Evaluation. The delegation includes public and private sector leaders and representatives from key institutions such as the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE), the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM), and the National Railway Office (ONCF). These stakeholders aim to explore investment opportunities and strengthen partnerships across various high-potential sectors including infrastructure, energy, digital economy, finance, renewable energy, mining, ICT, and agri-food.

This summit comes at a time when global geopolitical shifts are redefining the international economic landscape. In this context, Africa, home to some of the fastest-growing economies, offers vast potential for American businesses and others seeking growth in emerging markets. Morocco, as the only African country with a free trade agreement with the United States, plays a pioneering role in building strong economic bridges between the two regions.

Morocco has long championed sustainable development across Africa. Its strategic initiatives such as the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline, the Atlantic Africa Initiative, the Triple A Initiative for climate-resilient agriculture, African debt relief measures, and preservation efforts like the Pangalanes Canal in Madagascar are evidence of its commitment to the continent’s progress. These large-scale projects aim to enhance connectivity and regional integration, positioning Morocco as a gateway between Africa, Europe, and the Americas.

Through its unwavering support for multilateralism and vision for a prosperous and united Africa, Morocco has strengthened its global standing. This 17th US-Africa Business Summit is another step toward reinforcing the country’s strategic role as a bridge-builder and stable partner within this evolving global partnership.
