Moroccan reciter Elias Al-Mahiawi shines at UAE International Quran Competition
Elias Al-Mahiawi, a distinguished Quran reciter from Morocco, has garnered acclaim at the inaugural UAE International Quran Competition held in Abu Dhabi. This prestigious event celebrated some of the globe's most talented reciters, acknowledging their commitment to Quranic memorization and recitation.
Organized by the UAE’s General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat, the competition attracted top-tier participants from various international Quranic contests. The awards ceremony was graced by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, who presented the accolades.
Al-Mahiawi’s recognition solidifies his position among an elite cadre of reciters celebrated for their exceptional skills in 2024.
Among other notable honorees were Sheikha Alia bint Saeed bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Rashid Ali Khalfan bin Khalaf Al-Naqbi from the UAE, as well as Laith bin Ishaq Al-Kindi and Mohammed bin Ishaq Al-Kindi from Oman. Participants from Bahrain, Egypt, Mauritania, Palestine, and Nigeria also received awards, showcasing the diverse talent present at the event.
In the local category, winners included several UAE-based reciters, further highlighting the region's commitment to fostering Quranic talent.
Al-Mahiawi’s achievement underscores Morocco’s significant presence in international Quranic competitions. The nation, with its deep-rooted tradition of Quranic scholarship, continues to cultivate exceptional reciters whose dedication and skill consistently elevate them among the world's best.
