Moroccan raspberry exports reach historic record in 2024/2025

Moroccan raspberry exports have reached an unprecedented level in the 2024/2025 season, with a 14% increase in volume compared to the previous season and a 9% rise compared to the previous record in 2022/2023, according to EastFruit.

April 2025 marked a peak with over 10,000 tons exported, confirming the stability of national production between November and May, the period of highest international demand.

The United Kingdom remains the largest market, absorbing over 30% of exports, followed by Spain (23.4%), the Netherlands (18.4%), Germany (13.6%), and France (7.9%). Together, these five countries account for 94.4% of Moroccan raspberry exports.

The season also saw a geographical diversification, with 3,500 tons shipped to secondary destinations (+60%), including notable growth in the Middle East, a 2.5-fold increase to Belgium, consolidation in Austria and Switzerland, and the opening of new markets such as Romania and Eswatini. In total, Moroccan raspberries reached 26 destinations.

This success is driven by the growth of the red fruit sector in the Loukkos, Gharb, and Souss regions, combining agricultural expertise, investment in packaging, and commercial partnerships. Raspberries are now considered a pillar of Morocco's agricultural trade balance, alongside tomatoes and watermelons. Market diversification, premium quality, and optimized logistics will be key to sustaining this growth.
