Moroccan Meteorological Agency Issues Alert for Severe Thunderstorms Across Multiple Regions

In an urgent weather bulletin, the General Directorate of Meteorology in Morocco has issued an orange alert, cautioning citizens about the imminent threat of severe thunderstorms across several regions of the Kingdom. Prepare yourselves as the celestial fury unfolds, with heavy downpours ranging from 20 to 35 millimeters expected to drench the areas of Sidi Bennour, El Jadida, Berrechid, and Safi.

The directorate's advisory extends beyond these locales, predicting thunderous skies over the North, central regions, the Rif, the Atlas Mountains, and the Northern Oriental provinces. Meanwhile, scattered showers are anticipated in the southern Oriental and northern regions of the southern provinces, with intermittent cloud cover blanketing the rest of the country. Even the towering Atlas peaks won't be spared, as snowflakes are predicted to dust their majestic summits.

Accompanying the tempestuous weather, fairly strong gusts of wind are expected to sweep across the Atlas, the center, the South, the South-East, the Oriental, the Tangier region, and the Mediterranean coastline. Daytime temperatures are forecasted to plummet in the North, the center, and the East, providing a respite from the recent heat.

The maritime conditions are equally turbulent, with sea states ranging from slightly moderate to rough in the Mediterranean, the Strait, the north, and south of Tarfaya.

Regarding temperature extremes, the General Directorate of Meteorology forecasts a minimum of 5°C and a maximum of 27°C across the Kingdom. Cities like Tangier, Kenitra, Rabat, Casablanca, Safi, and Beni Mellal are bracing for temperatures ranging from 13°C to 21°C. Marrakech, Meknes, Fez, Agadir, and Essaouira will experience minimums between 10°C and 12°C, with maximums reaching 19°C to 21°C.

These thunderous predictions come amidst a prolonged period of drought and diminishing water resources, which have plagued the Kingdom's groundwater reserves and dam levels. The anticipated rainfall offers a glimmer of hope for replenishing the nation's dwindling water supply.

Moroccan citizens and visitors alike are advised to exercise caution and stay vigilant as Mother Nature unleashes her full fury across the Kingdom's expanse.
