Moroccan business confederation seeks investment opportunities in Mexico

The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), led by its president Chakib Alj, is undertaking a high-level economic mission to Mexico from September 22 to 25, 2025.

Organized in close collaboration with the Embassy of Morocco in Mexico City, the visit aims to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two countries while identifying new opportunities for investment and strategic partnerships, according to a CGEM statement.

The mission’s agenda includes meetings with key institutions such as the Confederation of Industrial Chambers (CONCAMIN), the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), and representatives of the Mexican government. Business-to-business sessions and visits to industrial hubs in Puebla and Guadalajara are also scheduled.

“Morocco and Mexico share common interests in many sectors, including industry, agribusiness, tourism, renewable energies, and technological innovation,” Alj highlighted in the statement.

He also emphasized Morocco’s rapid development under HM King Mohammed VI, noting that the country has become Africa’s leading car manufacturer, a major aeronautics hub, the continent’s second-largest pharmaceutical producer, and its top textile exporter to Europe. Progress in agriculture, tourism, and renewable energies was also underlined.

Thanks to its political stability, strategic geographical location, world-class infrastructure such as the Tanger Med port, skilled workforce, and ambitious reforms like the new Investment Charter and HM the Mohammed VI Fund for Investment, Morocco positions itself as a reliable platform for international investors, including those from Mexico.

“Mexico, in turn, can serve as a gateway for Moroccan companies to access the broader Latin American market,” Alj concluded.
