Marseille murder: eight suspects arrested in Mehdi Kessaci case
At least eight individuals were arrested on Monday morning by the Marseille judicial police in connection with the murder of Mehdi Kessaci, a 20-year-old man shot while sitting in his car outside a pharmacy in the city's 4th arrondissement.
The arrests come more than four months after Kessaci, brother of anti-drug activist Amine Kessaci, was killed in what authorities described as a “warning crime.” The case shocked France and intensified concerns about rising violence in Marseille.
Police have not released the names of those detained but confirmed that the operation targets the individuals suspected of involvement in the killing. Investigators continue to gather evidence as the judicial inquiry progresses.
