Marseille municipal police officers caught speeding with service vehicles outside the city
Several municipal police officers from Marseille have been caught speeding with their official vehicles outside the city, One case involves a senior officer whose Renault Arkana was ticketed in early August in Mallemoisson, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence—more than 140 kilometers away from his workplace.
The recorded infraction concerned a minor speeding violation of less than 20 km/h, but the situation has sparked controversy due to the strict rules governing the use of municipal service vehicles. According to an internal directive, such cars are meant to be used “only for service needs,” which excludes personal or long-distance trips.
The Marseille city hall has confirmed that “the necessary measures” will be taken against the officers concerned. Sources within the police have expressed frustration, warning that such behavior tarnishes the reputation of the entire municipal force.
