Manal Pays Tribute to Her Late Father in New Single 'Baba' Featuring Ghali
Casablanca - The Moroccan pop singer Manal has released an emotional new single entitled "Baba," featuring Italian-Tunisian rapper Ghali. The song is the second track to be unveiled from her upcoming album "Arabian Heartbreak," the release date of which is undisclosed.
"Baba" offers a heartfelt tribute from Manal to her late father, expressing how even after his passing, he shaped the strong and resilient woman she has become. Through vulnerable lyrics, Manal describes a woman who, faced with life's ups and downs, maintains hope and draws strength from God, destiny, and her own heart.
The accompanying music video, directed by Farid Malkin, beautifully integrates traditional Moroccan visual elements like sfinj pastries, msemen bread, mint tea, and embroidered carpets while maintaining Manal's signature dark and alluring aesthetic first seen in her hit "Morak."
Manal collaborated with Ghali on this deeply personal song after long admiring his artistry. As a Tunisian, Ghali's culture has much in common with Morocco's. "We've been talking back and forth for a while, then I showed him the song when he was visiting Morocco, as I pictured he'd be perfect for what I'm creating," shared Manal.
For Ghali, the chance to connect more deeply with his Tunisian heritage and culture while living in Italy drew him to the project. The two North African artists movingly celebrate their roots in this cross-cultural artistic fusion.
