In a night of accolades, Kylian Mbappé etched his name into the annals of French football history by being crowned the best Ligue 1 player for an unprecedented fifth consecutive year at the UNFP (Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels) Awards in Paris. Alongside him, his Moroccan teammate Achraf Hakimi secured a well-deserved spot in the league's Team of the Season for the 2023-2024 campaign.

Mbappé's latest triumph solidifies his status as a trailblazer, setting a new record as no other player has been honored with this prestigious award, voted for by their peers, more times since its inception in 1994. The French prodigy's sublime performances this season saw him outshine fellow contenders, including his Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) teammate Ousmane Dembélé and Brest's Pierre Lees-Melou.

In a poignant moment, Mbappé reflected on his journey, stating, "This chapter of my life is coming to a close. Ligue 1 has always held an important place in my heart. I have tried to do it justice, to be a worthy representative of this championship. I leave with my head held high. But I could never have achieved this without Monaco and, of course, PSG, where I have rubbed shoulders with exceptional players."

Kylian Mbappé is also expected to claim the coveted Golden Boot award as the league's top scorer for an unprecedented sixth consecutive season.

Beyond Mbappé's individual triumph, Paris Saint-Germain, recently crowned Ligue 1 champions for the 12th time in their illustrious history, swept up most of the night's accolades bestowed by the UNFP.

Their young starlet, Warren Zaïre-Emery, was named the season's best Young Player, while Italian shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma received the honor of Best Goalkeeper.

Furthermore, PSG's dominance was showcased with an impressive seven players selected in the league's Team of the Season, including Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi. Hakimi has established himself as a vital offensive force for PSG this season, both in Ligue 1 and the Champions League, demonstrating his prowess as a potent attacking threat.
