Jumia, the prominent e-commerce platform, has announced the discontinuation of its "Food Delivery" operations in all seven African countries where it operates, including Morocco. In a press release, Jumia stated that, "Following a strategic evaluation of Jumia Food, the company has determined that its Food Delivery activity is not suited to the current operational environment and macroeconomic conditions. Its operations will cease in all markets by the end of December 2023."

This decision aligns with the company's strategy to optimize the allocation of its capital and resources, continuing its path towards profitability. The Food Delivery segment constitutes approximately 11% of the company's business volume for the nine months ending on September 30, 2023, and has not been profitable since its inception, as clarified by the same source.

Jumia currently operates its food delivery service in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Côte d'Ivoire. According to the statement, several employees currently dedicated to this activity will transition to the goods commerce sector in these countries.
