Italian court ends special administration on Valentino unit over labor practices
Italian fashion house Valentino announced on Tuesday that an Italian court has lifted early the special administration imposed on one of its units over labor practices involving Chinese-owned subcontractors.
The court initially placed Valentino Bags Lab under judicial administration in May 2025 after reports that some subcontractors exploited workers. The measure was intended to ensure better oversight and compliance with labor standards.
Valentino said in a statement that it welcomes the decision and has strengthened governance safeguards and implemented a more rigorous supplier qualification process to monitor its supply chain.
In recent years, several high-end fashion units in Italy have faced judicial administration or inspections due to suspected labor violations, affecting the reputation of the luxury sector. Valentino is controlled by Qatar-backed investment firm Mayhoola, with French luxury group Kering holding a 30% stake.
