Interpol Chief Stresses Morocco’s Vital Role in Regional Security
TANGIER - Addressing the 47th Arab Police and Security Summit in Tangier, Interpol President Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi lauded Morocco's "efficiency and paramount importance" in upholding security and stability throughout the region.
Al-Raisi underscored Morocco's commendable efforts in combatting transnational crime, describing the nation's contributions as "beneficial and profoundly significant" in the global struggle against criminal networks and terrorist organizations. He emphasized Morocco's commitment to both Arab and international security, characterizing it as a "top priority."
Amidst the escalating security threats confronting the world, Al-Raisi emphasized the imperative to formulate "a clear common security strategy involving all countries worldwide" and harness the full potential of modern technologies.
Chaired by Morocco's General Director of National Security, Abdellatif Hammouchi, the summit convened high-ranking security officials from over 20 Arab nations to deliberate on reinforcing cooperation. Hammouchi stressed the critical need for a unified front in addressing terrorism, organized crime, and other shared challenges.
Al-Raisi also alluded to Morocco's upcoming role as the host of the 2025 Interpol General Assembly, underscoring the nation's escalating leadership in security matters. Against a backdrop of violence and instability in parts of the Middle East and North Africa, Morocco has emerged as a cornerstone of regional order.
Highlighting Morocco's broader impact, Al-Raisi acknowledged the country's pivotal role in Interpol operations across Africa and Europe. "From combating human trafficking to thwarting drug smuggling and countering violent extremism, Morocco is indispensable in confronting our interconnected security threats," he noted.
