Gisèle Pelicot and her daughter join Women’s rights March in Paris
On the occasion of International Women's Day, prominent women’s rights advocate Gisèle Pelicot marched alongside her daughter Caroline Darian during a major demonstration for gender equality in Paris on Sunday.
The two women walked together at the front of the procession, receiving warm applause from the crowd gathered in the French capital. Pelicot, who has become widely recognized for her commitment to raising awareness about sexual violence, addressed demonstrators with a message of determination and solidarity.
As the march began in the northeastern part of the city shortly after mid-afternoon, Pelicot encouraged participants to remain united in their efforts to defend women’s rights. Her presence symbolized resilience and support for survivors of abuse, an issue that has gained increasing attention in recent years.
Speaking to supporters, Darian expressed pride in taking part in the demonstration and emphasized the importance of collective action. She highlighted the role of advocacy groups working to support victims and promote justice, noting that such public gatherings send a strong message of hope and empowerment.
The march in Paris was one of many events held worldwide to mark International Women’s Day, as activists, organizations and citizens gathered to call for stronger protections against violence, equal opportunities and greater recognition of women’s rights.
