Foreign Trade: Unit value indices decline in imports and exports in Q2-2025
Morocco’s unit value indices for imports and exports fell in the second quarter of 2025, with year-on-year declines of 5.7% and 0.8%, respectively, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
The drop in the import unit value index was mainly due to decreases in energy and lubricants (-19.2%), finished consumer goods (-6%), finished industrial equipment (-4.9%), semi-finished products (-4.4%), food, beverages, and tobacco (-1.7%), raw animal and plant products (-4.5%), and finished agricultural equipment (-21%).
On the export side, the decline in the unit value index primarily reflected lower prices for finished industrial equipment (-5.8%), finished consumer goods (-2.1%), raw mineral products (-11%), raw animal and plant products (-25%), food, beverages, and tobacco (-0.9%), energy and lubricants (-12.1%), and finished agricultural equipment (-12.4%).
However, the index for semi-finished products increased by 9.8%, partially offsetting the overall decline in export unit values.
