Enhancing Partnership: France and Morocco's Drive towards Green Hydrogen and Electric Vehicles
During a visit to Morocco, French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire emphasized France's commitment to fostering "very close" cooperation with Morocco across various industrial sectors. Similarly, Morocco expressed its eagerness to cultivate new partnerships.
Both nations are steadfast in their determination to expedite joint projects across diverse industrial domains, including electric vehicles, green hydrogen, and batteries.
France acknowledges Morocco's significant assets and advantages in these three areas, particularly in green hydrogen, a potential replacement for fossil fuels, and in the research and manufacturing of electric vehicle batteries, where Morocco boasts substantial mineral reserves essential for battery production.
Bruno Le Maire held discussions with Industry and Commerce Minister Ryad Mezzour, during which they agreed to fast-track their collaborative projects.
The French minister highlighted the transition to electric vehicles as a mutually beneficial opportunity, expressing a desire for the two countries to share production responsibilities, emphasizing the complementarity between Morocco and France.
Mindful of paradigm shifts and the evolving geopolitical landscape, the French minister asserted his visit to Rabat marked the "renaissance of economic cooperation" between Morocco and France.
"We are making significant progress. There is a collective determination from both the French and Moroccan sides to accelerate these strategies," declared the French minister following his consultations with Ryad Mezzour.
Bruno Le Maire stressed the importance of "clarifying certain aspects to expedite cooperation between France and Morocco" for concrete projects, such as those in the automotive industry, hydrogen, and decarbonized energy.
During his visit, the French minister engaged with several Moroccan officials, including Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, Budget Minister Fouzi Lekjaa, and Economy and Finance Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui.
He is slated to participate in the Morocco-France economic forum organized by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) on Friday.
