Driscoll's Maroc Inaugurates Berry Processing Facility in Larache

In a significant stride for Morocco's flourishing berry industry, Driscoll's Maroc, a subsidiary of the renowned US-based berry producer, has initiated the construction of a cutting-edge berry processing facility in Larache. The inauguration ceremony unfolded under the auspices of Larache Province Governor, Bouassam El Alamine, alongside representatives from the Regional Investment Center of the Tangier-Tetouan-Alhucemas Region (CRITTA) and other esteemed stakeholders, as reported by the agriculture-focused website Fresh Plaza.

Encompassing an impressive 5 hectares, this ambitious project represents a substantial investment of approximately MAD 150 million ($14.9 million). Upon completion, the facility is poised to create a significant number of direct employment opportunities, with over 500 jobs expected to be generated.

In a statement, Driscoll's Maroc expressed profound gratitude for the steadfast support and collaboration of local authorities, pivotal in facilitating the project's progression from conception to land acquisition and the expeditious issuance of necessary permits.

"The professionalism and proactive approach demonstrated by local authorities have been instrumental in our decision to invest in Larache," remarked a spokesperson for Driscoll's Maroc. "Their foresight and dedication have been invaluable in advancing our project goals."

With an established presence in Morocco, Driscoll's Maroc aims to replicate the resounding success of its existing plant in the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region, further solidifying its position as a prominent player in the country's burgeoning berry production industry.

Morocco's fruit and berry exports have emerged as a significant economic powerhouse, generating an impressive revenue of $1.7 billion in 2022 alone. The country has solidified its position as a leading exporter, with its fruits and berries reaching the markets of 122 nations within the 2018-2022 period. France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Russia, and the Netherlands have emerged as key importers, underscoring the global demand for Morocco's premium produce.

As Driscoll's Maroc embarks on this ambitious endeavor, the anticipation of fruitful outcomes and a prosperous future for the Moroccan berry industry continues to grow, further cementing the nation's status as a formidable force in the global agricultural landscape.
