On July 17, 2025, the White House confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump, currently serving his second term, is suffering from chronic venous insufficiency, following a series of medical tests after the 79-year-old reported experiencing "mild swelling in the lower legs."

According to a statement by White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, the condition involves the accumulation of blood in the lower limbs, a common health issue, particularly in individuals over the age of 70. She further clarified that the tests showed no signs of "deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease," assuring the public that Trump's condition is "benign and typical for someone of his age."

"All the results were within normal limits, and the President remains in excellent health," Leavitt added. The announcement comes after growing concerns on social media about Trump's health, particularly following the release of photographs showing bruises on his hands.

Leavitt explained that these bruises were the result of "frequent handshakes" and Trump's regular use of aspirin, which is part of a "standard cardiovascular prevention regimen." The White House's aim was to reassure the public amid rising rumors and speculation about the President's well-being.

Trump, who became the oldest president in U.S. history when he assumed office in 2021 at 79, has been vocal about his high energy levels and recently had a playful image released showing him dressed as Superman. Despite his advanced age, Trump continues to maintain a vigorous public profile, often challenging the current administration's approach.

Trump has also made frequent references to the health concerns of his predecessor, Joe Biden, especially after the latter's controversial 2024 presidential debate performance. Biden, who was 81 at the time, faced growing concerns about his mental and physical health. These worries were further amplified when Biden, who had been seeking re-election, ultimately decided to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.

In May 2025, Biden was diagnosed with prostate cancer, adding to the ongoing concerns regarding his health.
