Cosumar among companies awarded Made in Morocco label
Morocco has awarded the Made in Morocco label to nearly 80 industrial companies in Casablanca, marking a new step in a national strategy to strengthen domestic production and enhance the global competitiveness of local industry.
The certification ceremony was held under the supervision of the Minister of Industry and Trade and brought together firms selected after a structured evaluation process. The assessment relied on international best practices, including compliance checks, on-site audits, and continuous monitoring to ensure that certified companies maintain required standards over time.
Among the recipients is COSUMAR, which confirmed it had received certification from the national standards institute. The label verifies the Moroccan origin of its products and compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. COSUMAR’s inclusion reflects its long-established industrial model built across nearly a century of operations.
Officials said the Made in Morocco label aims to promote national know-how, strengthen industrial competitiveness, and increase confidence in Moroccan products in international markets. The initiative also seeks to support import substitution and expand the country’s export capacity as global supply chains continue to shift.
COSUMAR operates a fully integrated value chain covering agriculture, industrial processing, logistics, and exports. The group works with more than 80,000 partner farmers and employs around 1,300 staff. Its industrial footprint includes seven sugar plants and two refineries with a combined production capacity of 2.5 million tons annually.
In 2025, the company reported production of more than two million tons of white sugar, with over half supplied to the domestic market and the remainder exported to more than 90 countries. Authorities said the label reflects Morocco’s broader effort to reinforce industrial sovereignty and strengthen local value creation.
