In a bold pre-convention move, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) transformed the façade of Trump Tower in Chicago into a canvas for their campaign messages on Sunday evening. This eye-catching display occurred just hours before the Democratic National Convention, setting the stage for a week of political discourse and party rallying.

The projections, alternating between English and Spanish, showcased various slogans targeting former President Donald Trump and his allies. One notable message read "Trump-Vance 'weird as hell,'" while another proclaimed "Harris Walz fighting for you," highlighting the Democratic ticket of Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz.

A particularly pointed projection referenced "Project 2025 HQ," alluding to controversial conservative policy plans authored by Trump's associates. Interestingly, Trump has recently distanced himself from this initiative.

DNC spokesperson Abhi Rahman emphasized the significance of this visual statement: "This week, the entire country will witness what it looks like to unite behind hope and a clear vision for a better future, as Democrats rally behind Vice President Harris and Governor Walz." Rahman further contrasted the Democratic candidates with their opponents, stating, "While Donald Trump and JD Vance are out for themselves, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are fighting for you."

Other projections included messages such as "Trump-Vance out for themselves" and "Harris Walz joy and hope," reinforcing the Democrats' campaign narrative.

The timing of this display is strategic, occurring on the eve of the Democratic National Convention. Rahman noted, "All eyes are on Chicago, and tonight, everyone is seeing a preview of the contrast that will take center stage this week throughout the Democratic National Convention."

The convention is set to begin on Monday, featuring a lineup of speakers leading up to President Joe Biden's address in the evening. Vice President Harris is scheduled to deliver her speech on Thursday, when she will formally accept the party's presidential nomination.

Meanwhile, the Trump campaign, which had not immediately responded to requests for comment, is planning a series of campaign events throughout the week. This scheduling creates a political split-screen effect, with both parties vying for public attention.

This projection tactic by the DNC serves as a striking visual representation of the intensifying political rhetoric as the nation moves closer to the presidential election. It underscores the Democrats' strategy to draw clear distinctions between their vision and that of their Republican counterparts.

As the convention unfolds, it remains to be seen how this bold opening gambit will influence public perception and shape the political narrative in the coming days. What is clear, however, is that the Democrats are leveraging every available platform—including the very buildings associated with their opponents—to broadcast their message to the American public.
