ASELSAN HTRS 100 radar enhances safety at Damascus airport
The ASELSAN HTRS 100 radar system has been deployed at Damascus International Airport to significantly improve air traffic safety. The installation was confirmed by Turkey’s Embassy in Damascus and Ambassador Nuh Yılmaz following a site visit.
The HTRS 100 provides high-precision detection and tracking of all aircraft near the airport. Its Primary Surveillance Radar operates in the S-Band with advanced clutter suppression and target-tracking algorithms, ensuring accurate performance even under challenging conditions. The Secondary Surveillance Radar supports Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) and multiple interrogation modes, enhancing operational versatility.
The radar’s “distributed active hot redundant” architecture allows continuous operation even if individual components fail. Smart algorithms manage adverse weather conditions, while a dedicated weather monitoring channel tracks atmospheric changes in real time. Advanced filters differentiate aircraft from birds or wind turbines, reducing false alarms and maximizing safety. The system’s operational range can reach up to 100 nautical miles, and it has a remarkable mean time between critical failures of over 40,000 hours.
