Al Barid Bank and Al Omrane deepen Morocco housing access partnership
Al Barid Bank and Al Omrane Holding have signed a new partnership agreement aimed at expanding access to housing across Morocco, as authorities intensify efforts to support low and middle income households through targeted financing and real estate development programs.
The agreement reflects royal directives promoting balanced, inclusive and sustainable development. Under the partnership, Al Barid Bank will rely on its nationwide banking network and financial expertise to provide financing solutions tailored to housing projects developed by Al Omrane. The two institutions said the cooperation seeks to improve access to home ownership while supporting broader urban development goals.
The partnership also includes financial backing for real estate development initiatives and a commitment to widen cooperation into projects with economic and social impact. Both parties plan to participate in national and international events to promote housing initiatives and strengthen investment opportunities linked to Morocco’s urban transformation strategy.
The agreement comes as Morocco accelerates implementation of its direct housing assistance program. Government figures released in May showed that more than 101,000 beneficiaries had already received support under the initiative by May 7, 2026. Authorities reported nearly 263,000 applications submitted nationwide, reflecting strong demand for affordable housing solutions amid rising urbanization and property costs.
Officials said around 193,000 applicants met eligibility conditions, with 60% of beneficiaries belonging to the middle class. Women represented 47% of recipients, while citizens under the age of 40 accounted for 52% of total beneficiaries. Moroccans living abroad made up nearly a quarter of approved applicants, underlining continued demand for residential investment opportunities among the diaspora.
The government has also expanded the digital component of the housing program. Citizens can now verify eligibility through an online platform using their national identity number and obtain beneficiary confirmation documents within days. Authorities view digitalization as a key tool to simplify procedures, improve transparency and accelerate processing times for housing assistance requests.
The partnership between Al Barid Bank and Al Omrane reflects Morocco’s broader strategy to strengthen social housing access through cooperation between public institutions, financial operators and urban development agencies. The initiative also supports ongoing efforts to modernize financing mechanisms and stimulate the national real estate sector at a time of sustained demographic and economic pressure on housing demand.
