Aguerd leaves Morocco training camp after medical examinations

Moroccan international defender Nayef Aguerd has returned to Marseille earlier than expected after medical examinations confirmed a persistent pubalgia injury, the same issue he suffered during the match between Olympique de Marseille and Brest before the international break.

According to French daily La Provence, Aguerd initially joined the Moroccan national team camp ahead of the matches against Mozambique and Uganda. However, after undergoing extensive tests—first at the Mohammed VI Football Complex and later at a second medical center in Tangier—the medical staff and the player agreed that he should head back to Marseille’s training center, “La Commanderie,” to continue his recovery program.

The report adds that the defender is expected to check into the club’s medical clinic within hours to follow a tailored treatment and rest protocol. The length of his absence has not yet been confirmed.

Supporters of the Atlas Lions are anxiously awaiting updates on Aguerd’s condition, especially with only 35 days remaining before the kickoff of the Africa Cup of Nations, which Morocco is preparing to host. Aguerd remains a crucial pillar of the national team’s defensive structure, making his recovery a major concern.
