Abdellatif Hammouchi, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST) in Morocco, welcomed Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren, the British Senior Military Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa, during a working visit to Morocco. This significant meeting took place at the DGST headquarters in Rabat and included the participation of British Ambassador Simon Martin, anti-terrorism police liaison officers, military attachés, and senior officials from various DGSN and DGST departments.

The discussions focused on a range of pressing security challenges both regionally and internationally. Key topics included the threats posed by illegal migration networks and their connections to various forms of transnational organized crime. The communiqué emphasized the importance of these talks in fostering bilateral cooperation regarding major security events and exploring potential coordination strategies to ensure successful organization of global sports and security events. Notably, Morocco is set to host the 93rd session of the Interpol General Assembly in Marrakech in 2025, along with other significant events such as the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025 and the World Cup in 2030.

In addition to addressing immediate security concerns, Hammouchi and Ahlgren discussed enhancing scientific and technical collaboration between their countries on security-related issues, particularly those involving explosives. Both parties expressed a strong commitment to invigorating this cooperation to bolster the strategic security partnership between Morocco and the UK.

The British representative acknowledged the vital role played by Moroccan security services in enhancing regional and international safety, highlighting their effective participation in global efforts against various security threats. In response, Hammouchi reaffirmed DGSN-DGST's dedication to strengthening its security partnership with relevant British authorities while expanding areas of bilateral cooperation to safeguard the interests of both nations.
