Morocco Reports 105 New COVID-19 Cases in the Past Week with a Low Fatality Rate

In the most recent bulletin released by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection on Friday, Morocco disclosed a total of 105 new cases of COVID-19 infection over the past week, with no reported fatalities.

Covering the epidemiological situation from December 23 to 29, the ministry revealed that an impressive 24,924,440 individuals in the country have received their initial vaccine dose. Additionally, a commendable 23,426,374 people have completed the recommended two-dose regimen. Notably, 6,887,645 individuals have received a third vaccine dose, and 61,305 have even received a fourth dose.

In this latest update, the overall tally of confirmed cases since Morocco's first reported case on March 2, 2020, has reached 1,278,269. It's essential to note that the current weekly positivity rate stands at 4.1%.

The newly reported infections are distributed across various regions in the country. The Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region recorded the highest number with 40 cases, followed by Grand Casablanca-Settat with 20 cases. Other affected regions include Souss-Massa with 14 cases, Marrakech-Safi with 11 cases, Fez-Meknes with 10 cases, Daraa-Tafilalet with 4 cases, Beni Mellal-Khenifra with 3 cases, and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, the Oriental, and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab with 1 case each.

Despite the increase in infections, the total number of deaths remains unchanged at 16,300, reflecting a consistent fatality rate of 1.3%. Currently, there are 118 active cases being monitored.

Morocco is steadfast in its efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, marked by an impressive vaccination campaign and effective measures in place to mitigate the virus's spread. The nation's commitment to public health and safety is evident in the low fatality rate and ongoing efforts to protect its population.
