RABAT - A historic agreement was formalized on Thursday between Morocco's Inter-Ministerial Delegation for Human Rights (DIDH) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), marking a significant partnership aimed at bolstering Morocco's commitment to human rights protections.

The signing ceremony, presided over by Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi, solidifies a collaborative effort between the two entities to devise an action plan for implementing recommendations from UN human rights entities. The jointly crafted plan will delineate the participation of relevant stakeholders, facilitating Morocco's progress towards fulfilling its international human rights obligations.

Minister Ouahbi emphasized the imperative to restore the centrality of human rights in the face of global crises, stressing the urgent need for increased awareness and education on human rights.

The agreement, signed by DIDH Secretary General Abdelkarim Boujradi and UNDP Resident Representative Edward A. Christow, also prioritizes enhancing Morocco's oversight of UN recommendations. This involves adopting a strategic outlook, refining reporting systems, and fortifying the capacity for drafting national human rights reports.

Secretary General Boujradi highlighted that this agreement builds upon the cooperation between DIDH and UNDP established in 2014. Meanwhile, Christow lauded Morocco's ongoing efforts and dedication to advancing human rights, stating that the agreement seeks to strengthen partnerships across various sectors in this crucial domain.

The signing ceremony signifies a milestone in Morocco's sustained commitment to upholding human rights protections and meeting international obligations. With the support of the UNDP, the roadmap envisions tangible progress through targeted actions and cross-sector collaboration.
