An Indian national, sought after internationally, was apprehended on Monday evening at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, Morocco. The 45-year-old individual came under scrutiny during a routine screening by airport security personnel, where it was discovered that he was the subject of an active "red notice" issued by Interpol at the behest of Saudi Arabian authorities.

The man stands accused of breaching trust and embezzling more than 2.5 million Saudi riyals (equivalent to approximately US$667,000) while serving as a project manager for a Saudi company. Allegedly, he exploited his position to divert funds before absconding from the kingdom.

Following the detection of the Interpol notice, Moroccan authorities promptly took the suspect into custody. He now awaits extradition to Saudi Arabia to answer charges related to the alleged embezzlement scheme. Officials commended the operation, citing it as a testament to enhanced international collaboration and the efficacy of Moroccan security services in apprehending wanted fugitives of global significance.

This arrest underscores ongoing endeavors to combat transnational financial crimes and hold accountable individuals who attempt to evade justice by crossing borders to evade repercussions for their white-collar offenses. With synchronized global law enforcement initiatives in place, airports serve as critical checkpoints in thwarting the escape of wanted criminals. In this instance, the individual's attempt to pass through Casablanca undetected reached a definitive halt.
