The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) recently solidified several significant partnerships with top Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American travel companies during the 44th International Tourism Fair in Madrid. These new alliances are poised to significantly enhance tourist arrivals from key markets as part of ONMT’s overarching “Light In Action” strategy.

One of the key highlights of this endeavor was the agreement signed with the prominent Spanish tour operator Avoris, marking a commitment to vigorously promote Morocco over the next five years. Avoris has pledged to accommodate 70,000 travelers by 2027 and intends to initiate flights to Dakhla in 2025 under its Iberojet airline brand.

Furthermore, ONMT struck additional deals with the Travelance consortium, comprised of Spanish tourism giants Europa Mundo Vacaciones, Soltour, and Luxotour. These partnerships encompass plans for a major convention in Tangier in 2024 aimed at engaging independent travel agencies and fostering collaboration.

In the maritime sector, ONMT has joined forces with Spanish ferry operator Baleària to bolster Spanish tourist flows through multimedia campaigns. Moreover, new ferry routes from southern Spain to Moroccan ports are currently in the works, aiming to facilitate smoother travel experiences.

Turning to the Portuguese market, ONMT has collaborated with leading agencies Abreu and Newtour. Charter flights from Lisbon to three Moroccan destinations have been organized with the objective of doubling Portuguese visitors. Notably, during the partnership signing, Morocco received accolades as the “Best International Destination.”

Expanding beyond the Iberian Peninsula, ONMT officials engaged in discussions with Latin American carriers and travel distributors to explore avenues for strengthening ties. It's evident that Morocco has set ambitious targets for robust growth from these pivotal tourism markets in 2024 and beyond.
