In a significant step towards hosting the highly-anticipated 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) finals, Morocco has commenced the long-awaited development of the esteemed Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca.

The revered facility underwent temporary closure to undergo substantial refurbishments, ensuring its readiness for the forthcoming continental football extravaganza.

Karim Klaybi, an esteemed member of the Mohammed V Complex Command and Tracking Committee, stated that the meticulous renovation of the stadium began on Monday, following the careful formulation of an all-encompassing strategy.

Expressing gratitude towards the competent authorities spearheading the revival efforts, the official showered accolades on the relentless endeavors dedicated to elevating the Mohammed V complex to new heights across various facets.

Rachid Nayfi, the director of the Marrakesh Stadium and responsible for the rehabilitation of the revered "Donor" stadium, previously stated, "A comprehensive maintenance plan has been meticulously devised to ensure the Mohammed V Stadium attains its peak condition, by the grace of God. The objective is to meet the highest standards in preparation for the forthcoming events."

With the finalization of the extensive renovations slated for December 24 of this year, Nayfi further revealed that the stadium is expected to reopen its gates to Casablanca's clubs by the end of December.

He clarified that the preservation and restoration of the Mohammed V Stadium form an integral part of the grand vision of the Royal Moroccan Football University project. This ambitious endeavor aims to transform the stadium into a world-class venue capable of hosting the pinnacle of football events, namely the 2030 World Cup finals and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The construction efforts will entail substantial modifications to the seminar hall, turf, garage, apparel warehouses, and guest facilities. These alterations are indispensable in meeting the stringent requirements outlined by the Confederation of African and International Football Associations.

It is worth noting that the capacity of the Mohammed V Stadium will remain unchanged despite its temporary closure, which had previously compelled Raja and Wydad athletes to seek alternative venues in their quest for glory outside the realms of Casablanca.
