Morocco's Exemplary Leadership in Global Cooperation Garners Praise from Non-Aligned Movement
The recent Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit showcased Morocco's pioneering diplomacy and its unifying role on the world stage. The Final Declaration of the Summit recognized the Kingdom for numerous humanistic and constructive initiatives presented at the United Nations.
Foremost among these accolades was NAM's commendation for Morocco's resolution condemning Quran burning and hate speech, unanimously approved by the UN General Assembly in July. This landmark resolution solidifies Morocco's commitment, driven by His Majesty King Mohammed VI's progressive vision, to promote peace, cross-cultural understanding, and respect in the face of extremism.
Morocco received additional praise from NAM for its pivotal role in UN peacekeeping, leading the Central African Republic configuration and the NAM Working Group on peacekeeping operations. The Kingdom also garnered recognition for its significant contributions to counterterrorism efforts.
Moreover, the Summit's Declaration encouraged Morocco's continued efforts in advancing sustainable development, human welfare, transparent governance, migration reform, and pandemic preparedness across North Africa and globally.
Representing HM King Mohammed VI at the Summit, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita led the Moroccan delegation to Kampala. This adept team of senior diplomats, including UN Ambassador Omar Hilale, highlighted the alignment between Moroccan and international priorities.
By skillfully fostering concord, Morocco enhances the global tapestry. Through its constructive presence on the world stage, the Kingdom promotes understanding and champions humanity's shared aspirations for a just and peaceful future.
