Nicolas Sarkozy Reaffirms Support for Moroccan Sovereignty Over the Moroccan Sahara
In anticipation of his upcoming visit to Morocco to promote his latest book, "Le Temps des Combats," former French President Nicolas Sarkozy reiterated his endorsement of Moroccan sovereignty over the Moroccan Sahara during an appearance on the Spanish TV program "Espejo Publico."
With unwavering conviction, Sarkozy declared, "I support Moroccanity over the Sahara... The Sahara is Moroccan." He urged the international community to place their "trust" in King Mohammed VI's leadership as he guides Morocco towards progress.
Sarkozy has emerged as a passionate advocate for resolving the longstanding disagreement over the Moroccan Sahara. His unequivocal statement underscores France's strategic alignment with its former North African colony, particularly as Rabat intensifies its efforts for international recognition of its claims over the resource-rich region.
