Safran and Moroccan Government Form Strategic Partnership to Elevate Aerospace Ecosystem
In a joint effort, Safran Group, a prominent French manufacturer of aeronautical components, and the Moroccan government have officially inked an agreement in Rabat. The primary goal of this collaboration is to bolster the aerospace ecosystem in Morocco, concurrently advancing technological progress and fostering expertise.
According to a Safran press release on Wednesday, the agreement specifically targets the identification and support of production capabilities among its suppliers and service providers in Morocco. This initiative is designed to stimulate the growth of a robust local supply chain characterized by high-quality standards.
To elevate the overall value proposition of the aerospace industry, the agreement also aims to fortify research and technology initiatives while implementing innovative engineering services. An additional crucial objective is the development of local skills and competencies, achieved through partnerships with engineering schools and universities, coupled with the reinforcement of training initiatives.
The signing ceremony, attended by prominent figures including Abdellatif Miraoui, the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation of Morocco, Taoufiq Moucharraf, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and Olivier Andries, the CEO of Safran, marked the official commencement of this strategic collaboration.
Miraoui expressed satisfaction with Safran's commitment to advancing aerospace-related domains in Morocco, characterizing the organization as a "historic partner" in this sector. He also lauded Safran's establishment of collaborative units in engineering, research and development (R&D), test laboratories, and simulation with Moroccan universities.
Forbes has also recognized Morocco as "Well-Positioned" to emerge as a leader in aerospace manufacturing.
Moucharraf highlighted the significance of this agreement, stating, "Today's agreement underscores the confidence of global leaders such as Safran in Morocco and confirms the competitiveness of the Moroccan aerospace ecosystem." He emphasized that the partnership will open new avenues for cooperation in cutting-edge technology practices, with the ultimate aim of enhancing production operations, introducing novel engineering services, and further cultivating Moroccan capabilities.
According to Andries, the agreement represents a continuation of their successful collaboration, focusing on establishing a resilient aerospace industrial ecosystem in Morocco. He underscored their shared dedication to talent development, industrial efficiency, innovation, and sustainability, stating, "Safran and the Moroccan government are composing a new chapter in their strategic collaboration by sharing a vision for the future of aerospace."
