A recent study conducted by EF Education First, a Swiss education organization, sheds light on the varying levels of English language proficiency across different regions in Morocco, positioning the country at the 76th spot among 113 nations surveyed globally.

Regionally, there is a noticeable discrepancy in proficiency, with urban areas surpassing their rural counterparts. The Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region emerges as the leader, followed closely by Casablanca-Settat and Souss-Massa.

At the urban level, Rabat, the political capital of Morocco, claims the top spot for English competency. El Jadida, a cosmopolitan port city, secures the second position, while Oujda, a northern hub, rounds out the top three.

This study highlights the regional disparities in English mastery within Morocco. As the nation actively pursues its 2030 educational development strategy, policymakers must prioritize ensuring equal access to language acquisition opportunities nationwide. Given the demands of an increasingly globalized world, possessing strong English skills is imperative. Morocco's youth, poised to meet this need, underscore the importance of addressing these regional differences in language proficiency as part of the broader educational development agenda.
