The Paraguayan Senate has expressed unequivocal support for Morocco's territorial integrity and sovereignty, urging the Paraguayan government to adopt a similar stance.

In a resolution passed during a plenary session, the legislative body endorsed a peaceful and negotiated resolution to the Sahara dispute. The Senate recognized the Moroccan autonomy initiative as the sole viable framework for achieving a just, durable, and mutually acceptable solution, while upholding Morocco's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

This resolution is particularly significant as it not only supports Morocco but also calls on the Paraguayan government to align its position officially. Senators strongly recommended the issuance of formal statements and explicit backing for Morocco across international forums.

This move demonstrates the Senate's firm commitment to seeing the Paraguayan government bolster its support for Morocco's sovereignty at both bilateral and multilateral levels. The historic resolution marks a decisive step in strengthening diplomatic ties between Paraguay and Morocco and reflects a growing international consensus favoring Morocco’s autonomy plan as a definitive path toward regional peace and stability.

Since Morocco established an embassy in Asunción in November 2016, Paraguay's Chamber of Deputies has adopted several pro-Moroccan resolutions, five of which address the Sahara issue. However, this marks the first instance of Senate-level endorsement.

The resolution was formally communicated to Paraguayan President Santiago Peña and Morocco's ambassador to Paraguay, Badreddine Abdelmoumni.

By adopting this resolution, Paraguay aligns itself with the broader international community advocating for Morocco's autonomy proposal as a robust solution to this longstanding regional dispute, further solidifying the friendly and cooperative relations between the two nations.
