Spain seeks to maintain unbeaten streak against Netherlands in Nations League quarter-finals
Spain is set to continue its defense of the Nations League title on Thursday evening as they face the Netherlands in the first leg of the quarter-finals at Stadion Feijenoord in Rotterdam. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m., with fans able to follow the live action on BeIN Sports Arabic, BeIN Sports English, and L’Équipe.
The European champions are in exceptional form, having won 14 of their last 15 matches. Under the guidance of coach Luis de la Fuente, Spain advanced smoothly through their group stage. In contrast, the Dutch team has struggled, managing only one victory in their last five outings.
Both teams will be missing key players. Spain will be without Marc Casado, who is sidelined with a knee injury, and Dani Carvajal remains unavailable. Inigo Martinez has also withdrawn from the squad, with Dean Huijsen stepping in as his replacement. De la Fuente has made several bold decisions, with Marco Asensio, Alejandro Balde, Marcos Llorente, Isco, and Gavi all absent from the lineup. Additionally, Aymeric Laporte and Dani Vivian are dealing with injuries.
The Netherlands, meanwhile, will face their own challenges in defense. Matthijs de Ligt has been called up to bolster the backline, while Nathan Ake and Stefan de Vrij are injured, and Denzel Dumfries is also unavailable. Frenkie de Jong's participation remains uncertain, but the return of Memphis Depay to the Dutch squad offers a glimmer of hope.
Predicted Lineups
- Netherlands: Verbruggen; Dumfries, Van Dijk, De Ligt, Blind; Reijnders, De Jong, Simons; Gakpo, Depay, Bergwijn.
- Spain: Simon; Navas, Le Normand, Pau Torres, Grimaldo; Rodri, Pedri, Olmo; Williams, Morata, Yamal.
Score Prediction
Spain enters the match with an impressive track record, having not lost since March of the previous year. The Netherlands, in contrast, has exhibited vulnerability. A favorable outcome for Spain, whether a win or a draw, appears to be the most prudent expectation.
Netherlands 1-2 Spain
