UK Secretary of State for Armed Forces confirms no agreement on one-month ceasefire proposal in Ukraine.

The British Secretary of State for the Armed Forces confirmed on Monday that Paris and London had not reached an agreement regarding a one-month ceasefire proposal in Ukraine, which was mentioned by French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday evening.

"There is no agreement on what a ceasefire would look like... but we are working together with France and our European allies to determine the way forward for lasting peace in Ukraine," said Luke Pollard when questioned on Times Radio.

"A number of options are on the table, subject to further discussions with American and European partners, but a one-month ceasefire has not been agreed upon," a British government official also emphasized.

On Sunday, Emmanuel Macron shared with the French newspaper Figaro that France and the UK had proposed a one-month ceasefire in Ukraine, covering airspace, seas, and energy infrastructure, while initially excluding ground combat.

Just before a summit with European allies in Kiev on Sunday, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that Paris and London were working on "a plan" to end the fighting. Fifteen European leaders, including Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, expressed their commitment to supporting Kyiv and rearming in the face of Russia.

Along with Turkey, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, they agreed on the need to keep the United States on their side, following the altercation between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump on Friday at the White House.
