Côte d'Ivoire Reaffirms Support for Morocco's Territorial Integrity

Côte d’Ivoire has reaffirmed its unwavering stance in support of Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as highlighted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Ivorians Abroad, Léon Kacou Adom. This declaration was made during the Fifth Session of the Morocco-Côte d’Ivoire Great Joint Cooperation Commission held in Laayoune.

In a joint press briefing with Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, Adom emphasized Côte d’Ivoire’s endorsement of Morocco’s autonomy plan. He described it as the only credible and pragmatic approach to resolving the Sahara dispute.

Adom further commended the efforts of the United Nations, underscoring its role as the sole framework for achieving a practical, realistic, and enduring resolution to this regional issue.

For his part, Bourita expressed Morocco’s gratitude for Côte d’Ivoire’s steadfast and unequivocal backing of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity. He highlighted the opening of a consulate general by Côte d’Ivoire in Laayoune in 2020 as a tangible testament to this support.

The reaffirmation of this alliance underscores the enduring partnership between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire and reflects a shared commitment to cooperation and regional stability.
