Morocco Tourism Hits 17.4M Visitors in 2024, Exceeds Growth Target
Morocco's tourism sector has achieved a remarkable milestone, reaching 17.4 million visitors by the end of 2024, surpassing its 2026 target two years ahead of schedule. This represents a 20% increase from 2023, adding nearly three million additional tourists.
The growth stems from a balanced mix of international and domestic tourism, with foreign arrivals reaching 8.8 million visitors and Moroccan expatriates accounting for 8.6 million visits. Compared to 2019, these figures mark a 35% increase in overall tourism.
Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor attributed this success to targeted government investments and industry professional mobilization. The Moroccan Tourism Office (ONMT) continues to expand the sector through strategic partnerships with travel agencies and airlines worldwide.
Looking ahead, Morocco has set an ambitious target of 26 million visitors by 2030, aligning with its role as co-host of the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal. This growth trajectory positions Morocco's tourism sector as a vital economic driver for the nation's future development.
The ministry's data indicates that strategic investments and public-private collaboration have been key factors in achieving these results, suggesting a sustainable model for continued tourism expansion.
