The Beginning of Rajab in 1446 AH: A New Islamic Month

On Thursday, January 2, 2025, the first day of Rajab in the Islamic year 1446 will begin. According to an official statement, the crescent moon marking the start of Rajab was not observed on the evening of Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs confirmed that it had contacted representatives of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and units from the Royal Armed Forces, both of which reported the non-sighting of the moon that would signal the commencement of the month of Rajab. Consequently, the month of Jumada II will conclude with 30 days, and the first day of Rajab will be Thursday, January 2, 2025.

In the same announcement, the Ministry of Religious Affairs expressed a prayer for the well-being and blessings of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Amir al-Mu'minin, the Protector of Faith and Religion, as well as His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, and all members of the Royal Family. The Ministry further wished for the progress and prosperity of the Moroccan people and the entire Islamic Ummah.

As the blessed month of Rajab begins, it serves as a reminder of the spiritual importance of the Islamic lunar calendar, with Muslims around the world observing key dates that guide their religious practices and reflections. May this month bring blessings, peace, and joy to all.
