Moroccan Princess Lalla Asmae and Ivorian First Lady Inaugurate Hearing Diagnosis Center in Rabat
In a remarkable display of international collaboration, Princess Lalla Asmae of Morocco and the First Lady of Cote d'Ivoire, Dominique Ouattara, joined forces today to inaugurate the Hearing Diagnosis and Rehabilitation Center of the Lalla Asmae Foundation in Rabat. The grand opening ceremony marked a significant stride in the battle against hearing impairments, a global challenge that demands urgent attention.
The royal and distinguished guests embarked on a comprehensive tour of the state-of-the-art facility, meticulously examining its various services. Their visit commenced with the reception lobby, where they experienced the center's welcoming ambiance, before proceeding to the mother and child space, a haven dedicated to nurturing the youngest patients. The duo then inspected the pediatric consultation rooms, where innovative diagnostic techniques are employed, and the auditory room, where cutting-edge technology aids in the assessment and treatment of hearing-related disorders.
In a captivating moment, Princess Lalla Asmae and Mrs. Ouattara were treated to a thought-provoking presentation by two female deaf presenters, shedding light on the "White Ear" infection, a condition afflicting countless individuals worldwide. This insightful discourse aimed to raise awareness about the myriad of diagnoses and challenges faced by those grappling with hearing impairments.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including Clara Maria Doolin Paredes, the acting USAID Mission Director at the US embassy in Morocco, Youssef Britel, Deputy Director of Education at Dev Tech Systems, and Nouzha Boubkerim, media advisor of the Lalla Asmae Foundation.
Mrs. Ouattara's visit to Morocco follows her arrival in Sale on Tuesday, where she was warmly welcomed by Princess Lalla Asmae. The Ivorian First Lady's working visit is part of the launch of the second phase of the "United, We Hear Each Other Better" campaign, an initiative aimed at assisting hearing-impaired children across the African continent.
The partnership between Morocco and Cote d'Ivoire, which commenced in October of the previous year, exemplifies the fruitful cooperation between the Lalla Asmae Foundation and the Children of Africa Foundation. This joint endeavor underscores the urgency of addressing the global crisis of hearing impairments, which, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), affects a staggering 430 million people, including 34 million children. Alarmingly, this figure is projected to escalate to a staggering 700 million individuals by the year 2050.
Through their unwavering commitment and collaborative efforts, Princess Lalla Asmae and First Lady Dominique Ouattara have taken a resounding step towards ensuring that no child is left behind in the pursuit of a world where hearing impairments are effectively diagnosed, treated, and ultimately overcome.
