The Moroccan community in and around the municipality of Motril, Spain, was welcomed by the Intercultural Centre of Motril as it hosted a visit from the mobile consulate of the Kingdom of Morocco in Almeria.

In her role as Immigration Advisor to the Mayor, Inmaculada Torres elaborated on the purpose of the mobile consulate initiative, which aims to bring consular services closer to Moroccan communities residing in the Almeria and Granada regions. Torres emphasized that this initiative seeks to "eliminate geographic barriers and facilitate access to consular services and advice without citizens having to travel to Almeria to complete their paperwork."

The Immigration Department of the Motril Consistory highlighted that the services provided by the mobile consulate include issuing personal documents such as passports, national identity cards, and notarial documents services that are highly sought after by Moroccan citizens living abroad. Additionally, citizens can initiate or update their consular registration through the mobile office, ensuring ongoing access to consular assistance. Document legalization is also available on site.

This innovative approach by Morocco to bring consular services directly to communities in outlying areas demonstrates its commitment to serving citizens wherever they reside. The mobile model aims to streamline administrative processes and maximize accessibility to consular services for the diaspora.
