Aterian Unveils Promising Copper Discovery in Morocco's Rich Atlas Region
Aterian Plc, a critical metals developer headquartered in London, has recently announced a potentially significant copper discovery in Morocco. In a recent statement, the company revealed promising findings from its exploration activities at the Akka and West Tazalaght projects situated in the Atlas Mountains.
Covering a combined area of 74.5 square kilometers within the western Anti-Atlas region, these projects are strategically located in an area renowned for its sediment-hosted copper deposits. Initial assessments have revealed substantial copper mineralization, with preliminary sampling indicating an impressive grade of 3.93% copper.
Charles Bray, Chairman of Aterian, expressed optimism regarding the findings, emphasizing their alignment with the company's strategic focus on exploring the copper potential of the Anti-Atlas region. Additionally, Bray highlighted the advantageous positioning of the projects in central Morocco, benefitting from proximity to essential infrastructure and existing mining operations.
Bray emphasized the favorable geological conditions of the region, suggesting that these could translate into economic viability for the projects. He expressed confidence in the potential for systematic prospecting to unveil further mineralization across the extensive land package.
With a portfolio spanning over 897 square kilometers in Morocco, Aterian is strategically positioned to leverage the country's burgeoning mining sector. Bray pointed to Morocco's preferential trade agreements, which enhance its attractiveness to global companies seeking access to European and US markets.
"We are continually gaining valuable geological insights and encountering positive indicators through our field exploration efforts," remarked Bray, underscoring Aterian's commitment to exploring Morocco's copper resources. Success in this endeavor could significantly bolster the resources of the junior explorer as it progresses from grassroots exploration toward development.
