In a remarkable display of healthcare outreach, a staggering 3,050 individuals have benefited from a groundbreaking medical-ophthalmological caravan held at the provincial hospital of Taounate. This initiative, made possible through the support of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), has brought a vision of hope to the region.

Organized by the Provincial Association for Supporting Patients with Kidney Failure and Health Affairs of Taounate (May 9-22), in collaboration with the Al Bassar International Foundation, and in partnership with the Provincial Delegation of Health and Social Protection and the Province of Taounate, this caravan coincided with the 19th anniversary of the INDH and was conducted in line with the National Program for the Fight Against Blindness (PNLC).

Jaouad Abdrabou, the president of the Provincial Association for Supporting Patients with Kidney Failure and Health Affairs of Taounate, revealed that since its inception, an impressive 3,050 individuals have benefited from this life-changing medical caravan. Among them, 511 cases of cataracts have been diagnosed, and an astounding 311 cataract surgeries have been performed.

The organizers harbor aspirations of conducting approximately 3,000 medical examinations, performing over 450 cataract operations, and distributing free medication to diagnosed patients, Abdrabou disclosed to the press.

Meryem El Omari, a social worker at the Provincial Delegation of Health and Social Protection in Taounate, highlighted that this medical campaign is a testament to the commitment to bringing essential services closer to vulnerable and underprivileged groups in Taounate, with a particular focus on ophthalmological examinations and cataract surgery.

Through this pioneering initiative, the province of Taounate has witnessed a remarkable transformation, as thousands of individuals have regained their sight and reclaimed their independence. The medical-ophthalmological caravan stands as a shining example of the power of collective action, compassion, and the unwavering pursuit of improving the lives of those in need.
