In a significant move for the French automaker, Citroën has reimagined its C3 Aircross by introducing a fully electric version. This marks Citroën's debut in the compact SUV electric market, demonstrating its commitment to innovation and sustainability.

A New Era with the ë-C3 Aircross

The newly unveiled Citroën ë-C3 Aircross is built on the fresh Smart Car platform, shared with the latest electric C3 model. This SUV is designed to be robust and assertive, boasting increased interior space, enhanced comfort, and superior connectivity. Notably, it offers a 7-seat configuration in its standard versions, with the electric variant accommodating five passengers. The C3 Aircross is available in petrol, hybrid, and most notably, a fully electric version.

Citroën's First Fully Electric Compact SUV

Measuring 4.39 meters in length, the new Citroën ë-C3 Aircross is exclusively available as a five-seater. Standard equipment includes a Mode 3 charging cable, emphasizing the vehicle's practicality. The design focuses on creating a spacious and bright interior, transforming the compact SUV into a mobile lounge.

The ë-C3 Aircross features Advanced Comfort seats and Citroën's signature suspension system with progressive hydraulic cushions, delivering a "flying carpet" effect. Despite its emphasis on comfort, the design maintains a robust SUV stance, aligning with Citroën's new stylistic language.

Enhanced Connectivity Onboard

Inside, the Citroën ë-C3 Aircross offers a 10.2-inch touchscreen (starting from the Max version), providing access to navigation, phone, radio, apps, and media functions. Full Wi-Fi connectivity supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the SUV includes two USB-C ports in the front and two additional ports in the second row.

The You version introduces the Smartphone Station, featuring an integrated smartphone holder that automatically activates a dedicated app via NFC technology. Additionally, a 15W wireless charging pad is housed in a dedicated storage area within the central console.

Up to 300 km Range, with Future Enhancements

The Citroën ë-C3 Aircross is equipped with a single 113 hp electric motor and a 44 kW battery, offering a range of up to 300 km. Charging times are approximately 5 hours with a 7kW charger and 3 hours with an 11 kW charger. Rapid charging at 100 kW allows the battery to go from 20% to 80% in under 30 minutes. Citroën has announced that a more powerful battery version will be available in 2025, extending the range beyond 400 km.

Competitive Pricing Under €28,000

"Following the launch of the ë-C3 and C3, Citroën continues its mission to make electric mobility accessible to the masses," the company states. Built on the new Smart Car platform, the C3 Aircross's increased dimensions do not affect its affordability. This makes it the first compact SUV in the European market with a starting price below €28,000 for the fully electric version. The Citroën ë-C3 Aircross starts at €27,400 in Europe. At this price, buyers get the 113 hp electric motor in the Max trim. The top-tier Max version with the same motor is priced at €31,600.

In conclusion, a recent study indicates that 30% of electric vehicle owners are considering a return to combustion engines.
