In a bid to enhance user privacy and provide greater control over audience reach, Instagram has introduced a new feature that allows users to broadcast live exclusively to their "Close Friends." Named "Close Friends Live," this update, announced on June 20th, is now accessible globally, marking a significant stride in the platform's efforts to tailor experiences to individual preferences.

With this innovative functionality, live streams will only be visible to users listed as "Close Friends" by the streamer. Users can easily add or remove individuals from this curated list, ensuring a personalized and intimate viewing experience. Additionally, up to three additional accounts can join the live broadcast, fostering a sense of exclusivity and connection.

Prior to this update, live streams were visible to all followers, and for public accounts, anyone could join and view the stream. This new option empowers users with greater control over their audience, catering to the growing demand for privacy and selective sharing in the digital realm.

Meta, the parent company of Instagram, aims to enhance user privacy through this latest feature. Last November, Instagram introduced a similar capability that allowed users to share posts exclusively with their close friends, further bolstering the platform's commitment to user control and privacy.

In addition to the "Close Friends Live" feature, Instagram is introducing new ways to connect privately. The "Notes" functionality enables users to share private updates with their followers and friends, fostering more intimate connections within the platform's vast social landscape.

Moreover, Instagram has announced that users can now add music to video carousel posts, a feature previously limited to photo carousels, further expanding the platform's creative potential and user engagement.

These updates reflect Instagram's continuous efforts to offer more personalized and private experiences on the platform, catering to the diverse needs of its user base. As social media platforms evolve, the demand for tailored sharing and privacy controls continues to grow, and Instagram's "Close Friends Live" feature positions itself as a pioneer in this realm, empowering users to curate their audience and fostering a more intimate and selective streaming experience.
