Gospel Diva Kim Burrell Shines at Fez Sacred Music Festival with 50-Piece Ensemble
In a groundbreaking performance at the 27th edition of the Fez Festival of World Sacred Music, the ancient city of Fez will bear witness to a global premiere of gospel music on June 1st at Bab Al Makina. The event will feature a distinguished guest: the renowned American singer Kim Burrell.
For her concert at the 27th Fez Festival of World Sacred Music, Kim Burrell will be accompanied by the Contemporary Orchestral Ensemble and the Gospel Philharmonic Experience.
The Gospel Philharmonic Experience is a versatile gospel choir that creates diverse configurations blending traditional, urban, and symphonic gospel styles. The team consists of twelve singers, each with a solo career and experience accompanying international artists such as Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, and Christophe Maé.
More than fifty artists will take the stage for a gospel-inspired creation with the diva Kim Burrell, renowned in the United States for her collaborations with Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Jay-Z, and Pharrell Williams.
Conceived and directed by conductor Pascal Horecka, this project presents a universal gospel experience and a fusion with the realms of Western classical music and the voices of a sacred, black, and inspired America.
Hailing from Houston, Texas, Kim Burrell is an American gospel singer, one of the most popular of her generation. She began her career in 1989 and quickly became one of the most influential voices in a musical genre she prefers to call Jazz Gospel.
Often referred to as "the Ella Fitzgerald of this generation," the producer and songwriter founded the Love & Liberty Fellowship Church in 2010, where she serves as pastor.
Known for her roles in Hidden Figures (2016), Great Performances (1971), and Pink Fridays (2020), Kim Burrell gained widespread popularity after her memorable duet with the world-renowned singer Whitney Houston during the "Celebration of Gospel" broadcast on January 31, 2011.
In this historic event, the Fez Sacred Music Festival will showcase the extraordinary talents of Kim Burrell and her 50-piece ensemble, offering a transcendent fusion of gospel, classical, and sacred music that promises to captivate audiences and leave an indelible mark on the city's rich cultural tapestry.
