Morocco launches recruitment for strategic military drone factory in Benslimane
Morocco has initiated recruitment for a strategic military drone factory in Benslimane"], operated by Atlas Défense, a local subsidiary of Turkish defense manufacturer Baykar. The facility will focus on the maintenance and production of combat drones for the Royal Armed Forces of Morocco.
This initiative represents a key step in enhancing Morocco’s defense autonomy. Beyond providing technical support for the existing drone fleet, the Benslimane complex aims to become a full-fledged production hub capable of developing advanced drones tailored to national operational needs, while reducing reliance on foreign suppliers.
The project includes the development of long-range, high-performance drones designed to strengthen the country’s operational capabilities. These technological advancements align with Morocco’s broader modernization strategy, intended to increase responsiveness and strategic preparedness in addressing regional security challenges.
A significant element of the plan is a comprehensive technology transfer from Ankara to Rabat. By leveraging Moroccan engineers and technicians, Atlas Défense aims to cultivate local expertise in avionics, control systems, and secure communications, positioning Morocco as an emerging player in the defense technology ecosystem.
The recruitment campaign marks the beginning of this ambitious industrial and strategic effort, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to strengthening its national defense and technological independence.
