OMPIC signs new cooperation program with German counterpart

The Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC) and its German counterpart, the European Patent Office (EPO), have agreed to strengthen their cooperation. During the joint commission held in Munich from September 24 to 26, both institutions signed a new cooperation program for the period 2026–2027.

The program will cover activities in patent examination and granting, IT infrastructure, training, and raising awareness among stakeholders about industrial property.

The joint commission was held at the EPO headquarters, chaired by Abdelaziz Babqiqi, Director General of OMPIC, and Antonio Campinos, President of the EPO. The meeting reviewed the progress of existing cooperation projects, particularly in the fields of IT development, examiner capacity building, and the promotion of innovation.

The two offices also marked the 10th anniversary of their cooperation agreement on patents and highlighted the “very positive” results achieved over the past decade.
