Pakistani President condemns US-Israeli attacks on Iran

Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the recent US-Israeli attacks on Iran, calling for maximum restraint and respect for international law and national sovereignty.

Addressing a joint session of parliament in Islamabad on Monday, Zardari said, "We strongly condemn the war being waged on Iran while negotiations were under way… We reaffirm our support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our brotherly nation."

The president expressed deep concern over the escalating situation in the Middle East, noting that Pakistan has consistently sought to prevent unilateral military actions against any country. He also criticized Iran's retaliatory strikes on Gulf nations, advocating for negotiated solutions to prevent further escalation and regional instability.

"The sooner stability returns to the region, the sooner the world can go back to rebuilding lives and restoring trust," Zardari said. "It is essential to exercise maximum restraint, uphold international law, and respect the territorial integrity of all nations."

The attacks, which began on Saturday, reportedly killed several senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran responded with drone and missile strikes targeting US-linked sites in the Gulf, resulting in multiple casualties, including four US service members killed and four others seriously injured. According to the Iranian Red Crescent, the death toll from the airstrikes has risen to 555.
