Bhamdoun tunnel lighting completed to improve road safety
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Works and Transportation announced the completion of lighting works in the Bhamdoun Tunnel, located on the mountain highway connecting Beirut to the Bekaa Valley. The upgrades cover both directions of the tunnel, which experiences heavy daily traffic.
According to the ministry, this project highlights the government’s commitment to improving road safety and facilitating smooth traffic flow on this vital passage. The lighting works are part of the broader initiative, "Lebanon on the Road," launched in May, which focuses on the maintenance and rehabilitation of roads, bridges, and tunnels across the country.
In addition, the ministry reported that technical teams are now preparing comprehensive development work for the tunnel. This includes cleaning interior walls and removing accumulated soil and debris to maintain the structure's durability and ensure cleaner, safer conditions for drivers. The project was also highlighted in a video marking the government’s first 100 days in office.
